MORE THAN A CHURCH
Reformed
We are committed to the recovery of the biblical Gospel, the affirmation of the historic Christian faith as expressed in the five solas of the Protestant Reformation, the sovereignty of God and Lordship of Christ, and the continued work of local church reform according to the Scriptures.
Confessional
We affirm historic, evangelical Christianity as confessed in the 1689 Baptist Confession of Faith (In Modern English).
Missional
We believe the central ministry of the church is the Great Commission: the proclamation of the Gospel, the act of baptism, and discipleship in biblical doctrine.
Cultural
We believe God is sovereign over all of creation – “He is before all things, and in Him all things hold together” – he chose to create the universe by bringing order out of chaos. Mankind then - appointed as God's image bearers and representatives - is mandated to grow in number, create culture, further order and harness the natural world: to "be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it."
As tools to order society, God has given us three distinct, sovereign spheres of jurisdictional authority: the family to bear the rod, the church to hold the keys, and the state to wield the sword. Failure to maintain the integrity and separation of these jurisdictions result in attacks on God’s design, image and authority by reintroducing chaos, confusion, disorder, and judgment.
In addition: We affirm these statements regarding current cultural issues:
*Chicago Statement on Biblical Inerrancy 1978 – Inspiration and inerrancy of God’s Word
*The Danvers Statement 1987 – Biblical Manhood and Womanhood
"I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.”
C.S. Lewis
